About the Role

Hiring – Strategic Account Executive

About DecisionNext

DecisionNext helps procurement, commercial, and supply chain leaders make better buying and selling decisions in volatile commodity markets. Our proprietary SaaS platform combines advanced AI with expert human judgment to significantly outperform traditional approaches to commodity transaction decision-making. The platform integrates econometric models, Monte Carlo simulation, and optimization techniques into an intuitive application.

DecisionNext is in a steep growth phase, working across food, agriculture, and natural resources industries, helping executives and procurement teams make better decisions that move millions of dollars. We work with complex organizations where buying decisions require rigor, trust, and clear value justifications.

Our culture rewards people who own outcomes, think big, stay curious, insist on high standards, and bring a great attitude to hard problems.

About the Role

We are looking for a Strategic Account Executive who can independently construct value cases, facilitate commercial discussions, and lead customer conversations without relying on a solutions consultant, analyst, or executive sponsor. We are not looking for a demo-led or solely relationship based software seller, rather a commercial deal owner. The right candidate enjoys solving business problems as much as selling software.

This role will own the end to end process of high-value deals with sophisticated enterprise buyers. This role isn’t about high-volume transactional selling. You are responsible for shaping demand, qualifying rigorously, building executive relationships, and driving opportunities through multi-stakeholder buying processes.

In this role you will be part of a high growth startup, and as such you’ll have the opportunity to grow with the company, and learn multiple industries. Those who are smart, curious and productively irreverent will thrive at DecisionNext.

What You’ll Do

Own Enterprise Deals

  • Drive high-impact enterprise sales from early qualification to close.
  • Lead structured discovery to understand customer objectives, buying processes, and success criteria.
  • Provide feedback to internal leadership on market trends, competitive dynamics, and customer needs. You’ll identify where deals slow down, what resonates with customers, and how market expectations are evolving to improve how we sell.

Executive-Level Selling

  • Build trusted relationships with senior decision-makers (CFO, COO, VP Supply Chain, Procurement leaders).
  • Bring a point of view to executive conversations, offering insight, ideas, and practical counsel, beyond product information. Your role is to communicate in a way that connects our platform to their priorities.

Lead Deal Strategy & Orchestration

  • Own the strategy behind every deal, including stakeholder mapping, discovery, demos, and close plans.
  • Navigate procurement, legal, and approval processes with persistence and professionalism to ensure deals are positioned to close predictably.

Ensure Customer Success & Long-Term Value

  • Maintain accountability for customer success through strong handoffs and ongoing executive relationships.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure customers realize the value promised during the sales process, while identifying opportunities to expand relationships.

What Success Looks Like

  • You consistently exceed ARR targets on enterprise deals.
  • Customers view you as a credible advisor who brings insight and discipline to decisions.
  • Deals are well-qualified, well-orchestrated, and close predictably.
  • Customers succeed post-sale because expectations were set clearly and responsibly.

Qualifications

Experience & Skills

We care more about how you think than the specific title you’ve held.

Candidates may come from enterprise sales, customer success, consulting, product management, procurement, supply chain, finance, operations, strategy, analytics, or other commercially-oriented roles.

What matters most is your ability to:

  • Understand complex business problems
  • Quantify economic value and business impact
  • Build credibility with senior stakeholders
  • Influence decisions without formal authority
  • Navigate ambiguity and drive outcomes
  • Learn new industries and markets quickly
  • Communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively

Experience leading enterprise sales opportunities is valuable but not required.

Experience engaging executive stakeholders, managing complex projects, influencing strategic decisions, or driving measurable business outcomes will be viewed favorably regardless of function or title.

Background in analytics and forecasting in a supply chain, procurement, or finance setting is preferred.

How You Think

  • Act as a business advisor rather than a product presenter
  • Lead with curiosity and strong business acumen, seeking to understand customer priorities before prescribing solutions
  • Think critically and adapt in real time when faced with new information
  • Challenge assumptions respectfully and guide decision-making conversations
  • Create structure and momentum in ambiguous situations
  • Take ownership of outcomes rather than tasks
  • Comfortable learning unfamiliar industries, markets, and business models

Who Thrives at DecisionNext

The strongest performers in this role:

  • Naturally ask questions about how businesses make money
  • Enjoy building financial and operational value cases
  • Think commercially before thinking about product features
  • Build trust through insight, judgment, and credibility
  • Influence stakeholders through logic, evidence, and communication
  • Learn quickly and become credible in new domains

This role is often a strong fit for people who think like consultants, operators, analysts, product leaders, commercial managers, or business advisors and happen to be in customer-facing roles.

This Role Is Probably Not a Fit If

  • You rely primarily on product demonstrations to advance opportunities
  • You are most comfortable discussing features rather than business outcomes
  • You prefer highly structured environments with clearly defined playbooks for every situation
  • You avoid challenging customer assumptions or difficult conversations
  • You prefer transactional selling over complex decision-making processes

Success in this role requires the ability to think commercially, build business cases, and lead executive conversations independently.

Nice to Have

  • Experience selling analytics, forecasting, or decision-support platforms
  • Background in supply chain, procurement, finance, or operations selling
  • Experience with campaign-based or account-based enterprise selling
  • Familiarity with governance-heavy or regulated enterprise environments

Compensation

  • $180,000-$200,000 OTE ($90,000-$110,000 base salary + $90,000 commission, uncapped)
  • Competitive base salary with variable compensation tied to individual and team performance. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, seniority, and role scope.

Why Join Us

  • Join a high-growth SaaS company solving high-stakes, real-world decision problems.
  • Sell a differentiated platform where value is tangible, measurable, and defensible.
  • Partner closely with Sales Engineering, Product, and Leadership on meaningful enterprise deals.
  • Grow with the company and gain exposure to multiple industries and executive stakeholders.
  • Help design and evolve our sales strategy as we scale, beyond simply closing deals.
